what is a polemic?
a polemic is an argumentative strategy that uses mild offense to stimulate novel thought and/or conversation. Simple enough.
The goal is not to distress, upset or discompose, nor anger, agitate or dismay, not to put off, outrage, or perturb, rather to inspire, foster, encourage, to press, to coax, the emergence of conditions that incline a society toward freedom, toward what's really good.
